Windhaven is governed by a group of overseers which includes the pastor. The ministries of Windhaven are executed through five ministry teams: Worship, Evangelism, Body-life, Facilities, and Finance. On a larger scale we are part of the Brethren Church, Southeast Region.
Pastor George Brewer
I began my service as pastor of Windhaven church in January of 2017.
I have been in ministry since 1998, serving as a youth pastor, lead pastor, and various other volunteer positions over the years. I began my ministry in California. I then served in various roles in Texas, where I attended and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Eventually I received a call to Virginia to serve as pastor of Windhaven. I am passionate about preaching the Scriptures and sharing God’s love.
My wife, Helga, and I have been married since 1999. We have been blessed with one child, our son, Ben, who is now a young adult. In my spare time I enjoy reading and working out.
Worship Team
The Worship Team consists of our awesome worship band and others who help in support roles. The team helps plan and execute regular worship services and special times of worship like Christmas Eve and Good Friday.
Body Life Team
The Body-Life Team focuses on helping Christian believers grow in their faith. A number of sub-ministries fall under the umbrella of the Body-Life Team, including Bible studies, Sunday school, and fellowship meals.
Evangelism Team
The Evangelism Team focuses on outreach to those who have yet to accept Jesus. Everything from supporting local and global ministries to our monthly free community meal fall under the umbrella of the Evangelism Team.
Facilities Team
The Facilities Team focuses on the maintenance of the physical property of the church. God has blessed us with a beautiful building and property. This team takes responsibility to make sure it is in good working order.
Finance Team
The Finance Team is responsible for creating an annual budget and monitoring all financial transactions for the church. The church treasurer is a very important member of this team who handles the day-to-day paying of bills and other business functions.
